TORONTO, ON. May 13,2020 — Organisers for the Rotary Club of Scarborough Ribfest scheduled for Semcoe Day have announced that the popular GTA event will be cancelled for 2020 in order to slow the spread of COVID-19.

The popular event featuring great bands, delicious food, a beer garden and a midway was scheduled to be held from July 31 to August 3rd at Thompson Memorial Park at the corner of Lawrence and Brimley Road in Scarborough.

The organizing committee and all members of the Rotary Club of Scarborough have been monitoring the evolving situation and they “do not want to jeopardise the health and safety of our attendees, suppliers, vendors, volunteers, or participating Rotarians,” the announcement reads.

Not unlike the CNE which announced its cancellation yesterday, organisers said they plan to hold off for this year and “concentrate on creating an even better event for 2021, when we hope that conditions will have improved.”

“We must ensure that people will be safe while running a successful event,” said the organisers.

Meanwhile the Rotary Toronto Ribfest, held each year at Etobicoke’s Centennial park and the city’s largest charity event, had also already cancelled this summer’s event.
