Premier cricket in Brampton: GT20 attracts some of the world’s best players

BRAMPTON, ON.– The highly anticipated fourth edition of the GT20 (Global T20) Canada cricket tournament is scheduled from July 25th to August 11th, 2024. Showcasing top international players alongside Canada’s finest, this event promises to electrify fans at the TD Cricket Arena, in Brampton Sports Park and worldwide.

After three successful editions of GT20 Canada in 2018, 2019 & 2023, the tournament is coming back in 2024. This is the first-ever major cricket league in North America. A blockbuster spectacle starring the biggest cricketing superstars in action, battling it out to become the ultimate champions of the Great White North.

As the pinnacle of T20 cricket in Canada, GT20 has rapidly become a key player on both the national and international cricket scenes. This year, the stakes are even higher as the Canadian national team steps onto the world stage at the ICC T20 World Cup.

Brampton’s mayor, Patrick Brown highlights the local impact, “The GT20 tournament not only showcases Brampton’s capability to host world-class sporting events but also significantly boosts our local and national economy. Last season alone generated a staggering $31 million economic impact for Brampton, emphasizing the league’s role in creating jobs and driving economic growth.”

This June, the national player draft was held and that shaped the six city-based teams for the 2024 season. Fans globally can catch all the action live on national TV and various streaming platforms, connecting Canadian cricket with a worldwide audience.
