Special Weather Statement issued for Toronto
At 12:27 PM EDT Friday 9 August 2024 Environment and Climate Change Canada has updated its special weather statement for the Toronto area due to periphery rainfall remnants from Hurricane Debby. However, Eastern Ontario and Quebec are expected to see greater rainfall than the GTA.
ECCC says that locally heavy rain will continue until late this afternoon with rainfall amounts from 25 to 50mm, and locally higher amounts possible.

Discussion:
A low pressure system will allow for heavy rainfall over parts of southwestern Ontario and the Golden Horseshoe this afternoon.
Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. For information concerning flooding, please consult your local Conservation Authority or Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry office.
