Special Weather Statement: Strong winds heading to Toronto area Sunday

TORONTO, ON, March 5, 2022 – Hold on to your hats as Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a special weather statement for Sunday.

ECCC says strong wind gusts of 80 to 90 km/h. are expected in the GTA on Sunday with localized gusts in excess of 100 km/h are possible.

The winds are coming from the southwest and should be at their strongest on Sunday during the day both morning and afternoon.

Canada’s trusted weather source also warns that widespread power outages are possible.


ECCC says “Strong southwest winds will develop late Sunday morning or early Sunday afternoon as a cold front moves through southern Ontario. Thunderstorms developing along this cold front may bring localized wind gusts in excess of 100 km/h.”
