I lost my dad in 2019. The pain of his absence still feels fresh, like an open wound that refuses to heal. After his death, his ashes scattered over the vast expanse of the Pacific, I felt adrift, lost in a sea of grief. She was living alone in Vancouver, thousands of miles away, her voice carrying both solace and loneliness. In those calls, amidst the tears and laughter, we forged a bond stronger than ever before. Today, she’s not just my mother; she’s my confidante, my guiding light, one of my closest friends.

Mother’s Day has taken on a new meaning for me, a day not just to buy flowers or cards, but to truly celebrate the woman who raised me, who carried me through my darkest days.
