SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AND TORNADO WARNING ISSUED FOR WEST GTA

TORNADO WARNING UPDATED 1 PM TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING

TORONTO, ON., July 19, 2020 — Today at 12:46 p.m. EDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado. Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible.

A line of thunderstorms over the area may be producing a tornado in the Georgetown area. This line is moving east at 70 km/h.

Hazards: – Tornadoes – Wind gusts of 100 km/h.

Locations impacted include: Brampton, Mississauga, Halton Hills and Georgetown.

Recommended actions
Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
