TORONTO, ON., May 17, 2020 — It only makes sense that on a holiday weekend, Toronto will not be enjoying the best weather. Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the Toronto area beginning Sunday evening right through to Monday night.

One of Canada’s most trusted weather sources is saying that the Toronto area will be hit with heavy rains, with the West GTA receiving up to 50 mm while the rest of the GTA will receive between 25 and 40 mm of rain.

The statement reads: “Rain is expected to develop across the GTA this evening and continue through the holiday Monday before tapering off Monday night.

Total rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 mm are expected with the potential for 50 mm over portions of the western GTA.”

Not only will the remainder of the Victoria Day weekend be wet, it will also be on the cool side, well below seasonal norms, so dress appropriately.

Environment Canada says “Cool easterly winds will keep temperatures near 10 or 11 degrees Monday well below the seasonal normal high of 20 degrees.
