Toronto Zoo is reducing its opening hours Thursday due smoke from wildfires

TORONTO, June 8, 2023 – Toronto Zoo has just released a statement to say it is reducing its opening hours due to the poor air quality forecast.

Your Toronto Zoo says it is aware of the poor air quality warnings that were issued for today and are expected to continue for at least the next 24 hours due to the smoke from wildfires in Quebec and Ontario. As a result, they are taking proactive steps to protect our animals, staff and volunteers which includes reducing our operating hours on Thursday, June 8 from 9:30 am – 3:00 pm, limiting access to the outdoors for some animals, limiting the amount of time staff and volunteers work outside and providing them with protective masks when outdoor work is required.

If you already purchased tickets

In their statement the Toronto Zoo says, “We encourage anyone who pre-purchased tickets to visit the Zoo on June 8th to reschedule their visit. If you are unable to reschedule we encourage all guests to wear masks while outside for any extended periods of time.”
