Upcoming TTC Subway closures
TORONTO, ON., June 16, 2021 – The TTC just announced a number of upcoming subway closures with the first one this Friday, June 18 only, on the portion of Line 1 between Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and Pioneer Village stations at 11 p.m. for track work.
The TTC says shuttle buses will run frequently. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations, which will vary from station to station.
All stations will remain open for fare sales and access to surface routes. Customers requiring Wheel-Trans service should speak to any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.
TTC Subway closures this weekend, Sat., June 19 and Sun., June 20
This weekend, Sat., June 19 and Sun., June 20, there will be no subway service on the portion of Line 1 between Finch and St Clair stations due to construction of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT (ECLRT). The TTC will also take advantage of this closure to undertake track work and continue work on its ATC signalling system.
Replacement shuttle buses will run, stopping at each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations, which will vary from station to station. In addition to the shuttles, the 97 Yonge bus and the University side of Line 1 will be available as alternatives during the closure.
North York Centre Station will be closed. All other stations will remain open for fare sales and access to surface routes and Line 4.
At Sheppard-Yonge Station, the automatic entrances/exits at Yonge St. and Poyntz Ave. and at Yonge St. and Anndale Dr. will be closed. At York Mills Station, the Old York Mills Rd. entrance/exit will be closed. At Lawrence Station, the automatic entrances/exits at Ranleigh Ave. and Bedford Park Ave. will also be closed. Other entrances and exits will be available for customers at each subway station.
Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.
Sunday TTC subway closures
This Sunday, June 20 only, subway service will be suspended starting at noon on the portion of Line 2 between St George and Broadview stations to accommodate beam replacement on the Prince Edward (Bloor) Viaduct.
Shuttle buses will run frequently. Also, Bay and Sherbourne stations will be closed. All other stations will remain open for fare sales and connection to surface routes and Line 1.
Customers who require Wheel-Trans service can speak with any TTC customer service staff member for assistance.
Next Monday to Thursday TTC subway closures
Mon., June 21 through Thurs., June 24, subway service on the portion of Line 1 between Sheppard-Yonge and Bloor-Yonge stations will end nightly at midnight for ATC signal testing.
Replacement shuttle buses will run frequently, stopping at each station along the route. TTC staff will be on hand to direct customers to shuttle boarding and offloading locations, which will vary from station to station.
Summerhill Station will be closed. All other stations will remain open for fare sales and access to surface routes and Lines 2 and 4.
At York Mills Station, the Old York Mills Rd. entrance/exit will be closed. At Lawrence Station, the automatic entrances/exits at Ranleigh Ave. and Bedford Park Ave. will also be closed. Other entrances and exits will be available for customers at each subway station.

Also beginning at midnight each night from Mon., June 21 through Thurs., June 24, subway trains on Line 1 between Vaughan Metropolitan Centre and Pioneer Village stations will alternate use of the southbound tracks due to leak remediation work on the northbound tracks. Customers will board northbound trains on the southbound side of the platforms, and may experience slightly longer than normal wait and travel times.
While the TTC says they do does most subway maintenance at the conclusion of service each night, it continues to require weekend and early weeknight closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work as well as ATC signal upgrades.
