Watch: Toronto Mayor John Tory Canada Day Message

TORONTO, July 1, 2022 – Today on Canada Day, Toronto Mayor John Tory issued a Canada Day message to Torontonians. “Today I wish residents across our great citya very Happy Canada Day! You know, I say this often because I believe it/s true; we are so lucky to be living in the greatest city in the greatest country in the world,” said Tory.

“Now more than ever we should seize these opportunities to celebrate. From Scarborough, to Etobicoke, from East York to York, to North York, celebrate our city’s rich cultural diversity and that truly captures what it means to be Canadian,” Tory continues.

“Today is also a time for us to collectively determine how we can all work together to make sure Canada continues to address reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. In the spirit of this work I encourage Torontonians to take the opportunity to learn more about our country’s past and how we can do better in the future,” said Tory.

“The same commitment and sentiment extends to our work to address hatred and racism and discrimination of any kind. We have to continue to aspire to be the country that I know we all want Canada to be,” said Tory
