WHAT’S OPEN on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day in Toronto

Before you venture out for New Year’s festivities it is important to keep in mind that both TTC and GO Transit as well as UP Express will provide FREE Transportation after 7 pm on New Year’s Eve. In addition, other transit services in the GTA will also be offering free service the night of New Year’s Eve, including Mississauga’s MiWay, Brampton Transit, Oakville Transit, York Region Transit and Durham Region Transit.

Shopping Malls

On New Year’s Eve all malls will close at 6 pm and on New Year’s Day only CF Toronto Eaton Centre, Square One and Vaughan Mills will be open within the GTA. CF Eaton Centre and Vaughan Mills will close at 7 pm on while Square One will close at 6 pm. on New Year’s Day.

LCBO and the Beer Store

On New Year’s Eve all Beer Store locations are open with regular hours and they are closing at 6 pm, while most LCBO stores are open until 6pm or 8pm and both are all Closed on New Year’s Day.

Toronto Attractions

Most Toronto attractions are open on both New Year’s Eve (some close early so check their websites) and New Year’s Day including: AGO, Casa Loma, CN Tower, Ontario Science Centre, Ripley’s Aquarium ROM, and the Toronto Zoo.

Cinemas

With so many people enjoying movie going traditions over New Year’s, all Toronto and GTA cinemas are open for regular hours on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

City of Toronto Services 

City of Toronto garbage collection – no collection on New Year’s Day and all pick up dates beginning on Wednesday will be shifted by a day (i.e. Wednesday’s pick up will be on Thursday).

City of Toronto operations and municipal offices – offices will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Toronto Public Libraries close at 1 pm on New Year’s Eve and all are closed on New Year’s Day.
