Winter Weather Travel advisory issued for Toronto and southern Ontario

TORONTO, ON, December 18, 2021 – Torontonians looking out their windows Saturday morning will have been greeted with some white stuff falling. Environment Canada has issued a Winter Weather Travel Advisory in effect for today and into the early evening.

According to Canada’s trusted weather source, this snow that has moved in from the southwest early this morning and will continue throughout the day making travel around the GTA more of a challenge today. Drivers are advised to be cautious if you must venture out.

You may need to break out the snow shovel today as the expected snowfall accumulations will be between 5 to 10 cm by the time the snow tapers off from west to east early this evening.

Accumulating snow on untreated roadways will impact travel and motorists are advised to exercise caution.

Temperatures are dipping from -3 °c early evening to -6 °c tonight, while Sunday is looking like a great day for outdoor activities as it will be mostly sunny starting out at -5 then climbing to a high of -2 and dropping down to a low of -7 in the evening.

Motorists should expect hazardous winter driving conditions and adjust travel plans accordingly. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas.
