Canada’s largest street cricket fundraiser is happening in Mississauga

The Princess Margaret Cricket to Conquer Cancer makes historic debut as hundreds of participants to play in street cricket tournament to help create a world free from the fear of cancer

MISSISSAUGA, ON, May 30, 2025 – The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation (The PMCF) is presenting the inaugural Cricket to Conquer Cancer presented by TD, taking place Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Celebration Square in Mississauga. This landmark event brings together sport, culture, and community in support of life-saving cancer research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre—one of the world’s leading cancer research and treatment centres.

As cricket continues to grow in popularity across Canada, this event unites cancer survivors, caregivers, athletes, and everyday champions in a shared mission: to help create a world free from the fear of cancer. With 2 in 5 Canadians expected to face a cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, every dollar raised funds breakthroughs in early detection, innovative treatments, and comprehensive support.

More than 40 teams

More than 40 teams will hit the streets, taking over Mississauga’s Celebration Square to raise crucial funds for cancer research.

What is street cricket?

Street cricket is an informal, fast-paced version of cricket, often played in public spaces with adapted rules and equipment. It is typically played with a tape ball, plastic bats, and minimal equipment. Matches are usually short, with 20 balls per team.

  • Celebrity Draft and Matches: Top fundraising teams will play alongside celebrity athletes and artists including:
  • Jully Black (Singer-Songwriter and Artist), Jamaal Magloire (Toronto Raptors Assistant Coach, Former NBA All-Star), Dwayne De Rosario (Canadian Soccer Legend), Carlos Brathwaite (International Cricketer), Deep Jandu (Punjabi Music Producer),
    and others.
  • Match Day Atmosphere: live music, food trucks, and interactive cricket games.
