Dance organization highlights how the arts can help build more inclusive, connected communities

MISSISSAUGA, ON — May 4, 2026 — A Mississauga-based nonprofit is bringing its community-driven approach to a national stage. Frog in Hand Productions will be featured at the Evergreen Conference 2026, joining leaders from across Canada to explore how cities can become more inclusive, connected, and resilient.

Taking place May 6–7 at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto, the conference brings together urban planners, policymakers, community leaders, and creatives to share ideas and real-world approaches to building stronger communities.

Frog in Hand’s Artistic Director, Colleen Snell, will speak on the panel “Small interventions, big impact” on May 7, focusing on how creative, accessible programming can shape how people experience public space.

“For us, this isn’t just about performance — it’s about the kind of cities artists can help to shape,” says Colleen Snell, Artistic Director of Frog in Hand. “As a charitable arts organization, we’re focused on reducing barriers, supporting wellbeing, and creating spaces where people can feel connected. Being part of the Evergreen Conference is a chance to contribute to that bigger picture, and to show how the arts can play a real role in building more inclusive and joyful communities.”

At Evergreen Brickworks Frog in Hand will also present Tour, a promenade-style dance performance inspired by the Tour de France.

In addition to the panel, Frog in Hand will present Tour, a promenade-style dance performance inspired by the Tour de France. The piece moves through space with the audience, transforming familiar surroundings into a shared, interactive experience.

“The Evergreen Conference is about bringing together people who are actively shaping the future of our cities,” says Toby Davine, Manager, PR and Communications of The Evergreen Conference. “It’s not just about discussion — it’s about experiencing ideas in action. Performances like Frog in Hand’s show how public spaces can become places of connection, creativity, and community.”

The conference comes at a time when cities across Canada are rethinking how public spaces are used and who they serve. This year’s programming explores topics including climate-ready design, housing, community wellbeing, and civic engagement.

For Frog in Hand, the opportunity is about more than visibility — it’s about showing how the arts can be part of long-term, community-focused solutions.
