TORONTO, Oct. 20, 2022 – For Torontonians procrastinating in bringing annuals and other marginal plants inside for the colder months, it’s no longer time to put it off, as a this season’s first Frost Advisory has been issued for the entire GTHA by Environment and Climate Change Canada.

ECCC says temperatures are expected to dip to near zero degrees Celsius early Friday morning in some areas including Toronto, Halton-Peel, Hamilton, Muskoka-Parry Sound and Haliburton. The ECCC warns, as mentioned that “Frost may damage some crops in frost-prone areas.”

So this means it is time to, put on some warm gloves, a toque, and take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.

Frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
