Karli June: Emerging Canadian Country Talent Nominated for Three CMAOntario Awards

TORONTO, March 27, 2023 – This week, Hamilton, ON based emerging Canadian country artist Karli June was nominated for three Country Music Association of Ontario (CMAOntario) awards in the categories of Rising Star, Songwriter Of The Year, for her song ‘Makes You Pretty’ and Album Of The Year for her debut release, Where You Come From (The Orchard). Karen Kosowski also secured a nomination for Producer of the Year for Where You Come From.

“It is truly such a shock and huge honour to be nominated in these categories. This is my first time being nominated, and being alongside so many people I respect and admire means so much! I especially want to give a shout out to the CMAOntario team and membership, your ongoing support means a lot to me,” said Karli June.

The nominations are well timed for the up-and-coming singer-songwriter, following a year of career growth in support of her debut release. Karli was selected as a 2021 participant in the prestigious TD Incubator for Creative Entrepreneurship powered by SOCAN Foundation, was one of three finalists selected to represent Ontario in the 2021 nationwide Jim Beam Talent Search and was selected as Arcadia Broadcasting’s“Break Out Artist” for “Makes You Pretty” in Canada. The track was serviced to Australian country radio this month as Karli’s first foray into that market.

Karli and her band have been hitting the live circuit this past year and have an upcoming show on April 6 in Ottawa, opening for Five Roses. Recent shows include Paddyfest on March 17 in Karli’s hometown of Listowel ON, Parksville, BC, Toronto, ON during Canadian Music Week, in Kitchener, ON for Oktoberfest,and two songwriter rounds in Calgary, AB during the Canadian Country Music Awards weekend.

Karli is currently in the studio writing and recording new music with industry heavyweights including hit songwriter / producer Deric Ruttan (Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Dierks Bentley) and hit songwriter / producer Gavin Slate (Mickey Guyton, Meghan Patrick, Tim Hicks, The Reklaws, James Barker Band).
