A newly wrapped, special edition GO Bus is headed to Pride and a station near you.

TORONTO, June 9, 2023 – This week Metrolinx unveils a new bus to kick-off Pride month, Union Station construction is well underway with new, never-before seen images and what GO Train customers need to know about upcoming track work on the Lakeshore West Line.

This year’s special edition Pride GO Bus wrap will once again be the centrepiece of the Metrolinx delegation at the Toronto Pride Parade.

The specially wrapped GO Bus is part of Metrolinx’s annual contribution to support Pride. It’s the eleventh year in a row the transit agency has participated.

This unique design reflects this year’s theme Stick with Us by pulling inspiration from stickers, pins, and badges that are connected to the 2SLGBTQ+ community. Another interesting feature of the new bus wrap are the words “Pride. Every Day. Always.”

These words represent Metrolinx’s year-long commitment to ensuring a safe and inclusive ride for all.

Inspiration behind the design

The designer of this year’s wrap is Tim Singleton, a senior integrated design specialist in Metrolinx’s marketing division, says the inspiration came from an unlikely source.

“Knowing the connection the 2SLGBTQ+ community has when it comes to message sharing through stickers and buttons, I played around with the idea of bringing that aesthetic to the Pride campaign,” he says.

“It’s also a complete switch up from last year, where the bus was black with bursts of colour, this year it’s a rainbow extravaganza.”

As for the importance of having a rainbow adorned GO Bus travelling around the region, Singleton says it’s about being seen.

“Visibility is a huge part of getting conversations going and getting people to acknowledge the differences in our lives, and the beauty within that,” he says.
