Special Weather Statement for high winds issued for Toronto and GTA

TORONTO, ON., Oct. 31, 2020 — At 3:17 pm today Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for Southern Ontario. Canada’s trusted weather source says Toronto and most Southern Ontario will see strong, gusty winds Sunday.

Strong, gusty winds Sunday through Monday. Reduced visibility in flurries tonight.

The statement reads: “Strong winds gusting between 60 and 70 km/h today as an Alberta Clipper sweeps through the province. Winds will strengthen this evening with gusts up to 80 km/h. Winds will diminish Monday afternoon.

“In addition, flurries will develop off of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay tonight. Strong winds along with the falling snow will reduce visibility at times and make travel difficult. Flurries will end early Monday morning.”

Sunday’s forecast for Toronto is cloudy with Showers beginning in the morning. High 8 with temperature falling to plus 3 in the afternoon. UV index 1 or low.

Sunday night will be mainly cloudy and colder with a few flurries beginning in the evening and ending after midnight. There is a 40 percent chance of flurries overnight. Local blowing snow may occur in the evening and after midnight. Wind northwest 40 km/h gusting to 70. Low zero.
