TORONTO, ON., May 28, 2020 — Heavy rains are going to hit mostly the West GTA today according to a Special Weather Statement issued by Environment Canada.

Canada’s trusted weather source says an area of heavy rain moving northward from Ohio this morning is expected to cross lake Erie and western sections of Lake Ontario through the middle of the day.

The statement says that potential rainfall amounts of 20 to 40 millimetres will fall across some areas by this evening. This rain is associated with the remnants of tropical depression Bertha and is weakening as it moves northward.

There is still uncertainty about which area will receive the highest amount of rain.
