TORONTO. ON., February 5, 2020 – Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for the GTA and southern Ontario Thursday. The statement warns of a mid of snow, ice pellets and freezing rain will descend upon the region on Wednesday night.

The statement says that “a low from Texas is expected to move towards the lower Great Lakes and snow will arrive tonight.”

As mentioned in yesterday’s weather statement, snow will arrive tonight, but now an update from Environment Canada is saying the snow may become mixed with ice pellets before coming to an end by Thursday night. They also warn that there is also a risk of freezing rain.

“At this point there is still some uncertainty as to the exact track of the low,” Environment Canada says.

The total snowfall amounts are expected to be from 5 to 10cm.

The weather statement warns that Thursday morning and afternoon commutes may be affected.
