Spend a jazzy Valentine’s Day with Micah Barnes at Hugh’s Room
Since late September when the NEW Hugh’s Room opened its doors at their amazing new home (296 Broadview Avenue) they’ve been extremely busy bringing back many artists who graced the stage of the old beloved venue on the West side of Toronto. One of those artists is Hugh’s Room’s friend, Micah Barnes who returns to celebrate one of his favourite holidays – Valentine’s Day.
Micah Barnes love songs from Golden age of Pop
For this concert Micah is focusing on love songs from the golden age of Pop (‘5os and ‘60s) including songs from Dusty Springfield, Smokey Robinson, The Drifters, The Supremes, Elvis Presley and Dione Warwick. Micah is also bringing a few of his originals that pay homage to both the musical era and to the experience of being a young gay man falling in love.
Of course, Micah is dusting off some of The Nylons’ most beloved tunes from that catalogue – presenting them with new arrangements built around Micah’s solo big baritone voice!
New album on the way for Micah Barnes
Micah is currently recording a new album (Alma/Universal) for 2024 release. This album is focusing on the “2nd Great American Songbook” featuring songs by Carole King, Burt Bacharach, Smokey Robinson and others – all given Micah’s soulful jazzy style.

Please note: Although it is a fantastic venue to take in live music, 296 Broadview Avenue is not yet a fully accessible venue, with stairs between all levels. Their goal is to fix this and we do need your support to do so – please consider making a donation towards our goal to make Hugh’s Room the best listening room in Toronto!
