Toronto advanced voter turnout down 6.75% from 2018 municipal election

TORONTO, Oct. 18, 2022 – After eight consecutive days, the advance vote period for Toronto’s municipal election ended on Friday, October 14. From October 7 to 14, 115,911 voters visited one of 50 advance voting places across the city to vote – a 6.75 per cent decrease from 2018.

The 2022 advance vote included three more days to vote in person compared to 2018 and took place during the Thanksgiving long weekend to allow more time to vote and to provide post-secondary students home from school the opportunity to vote in person.

When and where to vote in the Toronto municipal election

On election day, Monday, October 24, 1,460 voting locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Voters are encouraged to use the MyVote web application to:

• Find their ward and map
• See the candidates running in their ward
• Find out if they are on the voters’ list
• Learn where and when to vote
• View, download or print their Voter Information Card
• Find accessibility information about their voting place
• View a sample of their ward ballot.

A Voter Information Card is not required to vote, but it will make the voting experience more efficient. A list of acceptable identification is available on the Toronto Elections webpage.
