Toronto is under a Winter Weather Travel Advisory

TORONTO, 10:18 AM EST Thursday 6 March 2025 – A Winter Weather Travel Advisory has been issued for the GTA by Environment and Climate Change Canada. The warning is not for a massive dump of snow, however, it is for a rapid temperature drop of about 10 degrees celsius that is expected to turn surfaces into ice rinks so to speak.

The temperature is expected to drop throughout the morning into the afternoon. Don’t be too alarmed, we are not going into an Arctic freeze, in fact the low is expected to be about -3 tonight but the est 70 km/h high winds will make it feel colder in the GTA.

Here is the report from ECCC.

Weather Advisory in effect for:

  • City of Toronto

Winter weather travel advisory in effect for today.

What: Temperatures are forecast to fall rapidly below the freezing mark. Ponding water or wet surfaces can freeze creating icy and slippery conditions. Wind gusts up to 70 km/h are possible around the Greater Golden Horseshoe with gusts up to 80 km/h possible for southern Niagara.

When: Icy conditions are expected to develop this morning.

Hazardous winter driving conditions
