BROOKLYN, June 23, 2023 – Last night the Toronto Raptors selected guard-forward Gradey Dick with the 13th overall pick at the 2023 NBA Draft, held in Brooklyn.

Dick, 6-foot-8, 205 pounds, was drafted by the Raptors following one season at the University of Kansas (hence the flamboyant Wizard of Oz-themed attire he wore on draft day) . During the 2022-23 campaign, the freshman averaged 14.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 32.6 minutes. He started all 36 of the games he played.

He ranked 12th in the Big 12 in points per game (14.1), seventh in three-point field goals made (2.3), 10th in steals (1.4) and 15th in rebounds (5.1). Dick also set the University of Kansas freshman record for three-point field goals made with 83. He was named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team and to the All-Big 12 Second Team during the 2022-23 season. He is a three-time Big 12 newcomer of the week (Nov. 21, Feb. 12, Feb. 20) and was selected to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List.

The Wichita native played prep for powerhouse Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Kansas where he was named a 2022 McDonald’s All-American and Naismith Boys HS All-America Second Team. In 2022, Dick was named Gatorade Player of the Year, becoming only the second University of Kansas player to earn the distinction (Andrew Wiggins, 2013).
