To support the St. Lawrence Market merchants and work together on the success of Market businesses, the City of Toronto will host a job fair this Wednesday, July 6.

St. Lawrence Market job fair details:

  • Date: Wednesday, July 6
  • Time: 2 to 6 p.m.
  • Location: South Market (main building), 91 to 95 Front St. E.

Toronto residents who are interested in a position at the St. Lawrence Market can access the job fair by entering through the main Front Street entrance and speaking to Market staff who can direct them to the various shops that are hiring within the building.

“Working at St. Lawrence Market is an opportunity to work at one of the world’s top food markets. This is an excellent opportunity for those looking to start or continue a career in hospitality and culinary arts,” said Mayor John Tory.

Merchants will accept résumés and conduct interviews on site for positions including cashiers, raw food and prepared food sales, culinary support such as cooks, butchers and grocers, as well as customer service positions. Some entry level positions include hourly wages of $16 to $20 per hour.

St. Lawrence Market is a renowned international food market featuring 120 merchants, vendors and farmers, offering fresh produce, meats and specialty items. Serving Toronto residents and international visitors since 1803, the market is regularly recognized as one of Toronto’s most popular destinations and was ranked the number one food market in the world by National Geographic. The St. Lawrence Market Complex consists of St. Lawrence Hall, the South Market and the North Market – the latter now in its temporary home at 125 The Esplanade. “The Market is a globally recognized hub in the middle of the dynamic St. Lawrence neighbourhood. This is an opportunity to work there in a friendly, family operated environment. New employees at the Market will build long-lasting relationships and fond memories. I encourage anyone looking for employment in this area to visit the job fair.”,” said Councillor Robin Buxton Potts (Toronto Centre).
