The Caribbean island of Saint Maarten is quite unique. Although there is a border separating the Dutch and the French sides of the island, there is no need to worry; the border is there as a suggestion.
Visitors and residents are free to travel around the island—no passport necessary. The airport is located on the Dutch side of the island—The Princess Juliana International Airport right on Maho Beach. If you ever want to photograph airplanes, this is the place. The bars and restaurants on Maho beach are set-up to give visitors a great experience as they pipe in the pilot’s conversations while they are landing and taking off right over the sunbathers!
