2025 JUNO Award Winners: The Beaches win Group of the Year again, Sum 41 bid farewell

VANCOUVER, BC – It was a red and white Canadian music love-in last night at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, as the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and CBC celebrated The 2025 JUNO Awards. Toronto rockers, The Beaches took Group of the Year for the second straight time, while Nemahsis won Breakthrough Artist of the Year and delivered a must-see explosive performance.

Hosted enthusiastically by beloved, multi-Platinum Superstar and 15-Time JUNO Award Winner Michael Bublé, the Awards were broadcast on CBC TV, CBC Gem, CBC Radio One, CBC Music, CBC Listen, and globally at CBCMusic.ca/junos and CBC Music’s YouTube page. The JUNO Awards Gala included the presentation of over 40 JUNO Awards.

Special honours to Anne Murray and Sum 41

Sum 41‬ perform a medley of their hits Landmines, Fat Lip, Still Waiting and In Too Deep in their final live performance ever at the 2025 Juno Awards presented by ‪@TDCanada‬

Special honours were presented to Anne Murray, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award Presented by the National Arts Centre, and Sum 41, who delivered a historic final medley performance and were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame by Joel and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte. Their induction was presented by JUNOS’ Premier Sponsor, TD. The evening also featured  memorable sets from Aqyila, Josh Ross, Nemahsis, Snotty Nose Rez Kids, Tia Wood, and more!

Biggest winner: Tate McRae

Canadian pop sensation Tate McRae emerged as the year’s biggest winner, taking home four awards, including her first JUNO Award for Album of the Year Presented by Music Canada and Pop Album of the Year, both for THINK LATER. She also earned Single of the Year Presented by YouTube for her hit “exes” and Artist of the Year Presented by SiriusXM Canada.

Exciting performers Aqyila, Josh Ross, Nemahsis, and Snotty Nose Rez Kids each made a powerful impact on The JUNOS this year, not only with standout performances but also by taking home JUNO Awards. Aqyila earned Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year for Bloom, while Josh Ross took home his first JUNO for Complicated (Country Album of the Year Presented by Music Canada). Nemahsis made her JUNO debut in a big way, winning both Breakthrough Artist or Group of the Year Presented by FACTOR, The Government of Canada and Canada’s Private Radio Broadcasters and Alternative Album of the Year for Interlude (When a Thought Grows Wings). Snotty Nose Rez Kids also claimed their first JUNO Award with RED FUTURE winning Rap Album/EP of the Year.

Mustafa earned double recognition for his powerful visual storytelling, winning both Music Video of the Year and Songwriter of the Year Presented by SOCAN for his deeply personal work on “Name of God” and other tracks from his album Dunya.

AP Dhillon wins South Asian Music Recording of the Year and Lowell wins Songwriter of the Year

The inaugural year for South Asian Music Recording of the Year Presented by TD was won by AP Dhillon and Lowell took home the first Songwriter of the Year (Non-Performer) Presented by SOCAN award for her work with The Beaches and Beyoncé.

Toronto Symphony Orchestra wins 6th JUNO, The Beaches win second straight JUNO for Group of the Year

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra added to its legacy with a sixth JUNO Award win this weekend with Classical Album of the Year for Messiaen: Turangalîla-Symphonie. While acclaimed Toronto rock band The Beaches secured their fifth career JUNO and second consecutive win for Group of the Year presented by Sirius XM Canada.

Artists making their JUNO Awards debut performances this year included Aqyila, Jonita Ghandi, Nemahsis, Peach Pit, Roxane Bruneau, Tia Wood, Chani Nattan, Inderpal Moga, Jazzy B & GMINXR.

TikTok JUNO Fan Choice Award

The TikTok JUNO Fan Choice Award, the only fan-voted category of the JUNO Awards, was awarded to bbno$, celebrating their dedicated fanbase and viral impact across digital platforms.
