First interim Jeopardy! host is the game’s ‘Greatest Of All Time’

Ken Jennings will be the first of a series of interim hosts replacing the late Alex Trebek when the show resumes production next Monday.

Jeopardy! producers announced on Twitter Monday, that Jennings, who won 74 straight games and including the show’s “Greatest of All Time” title in a competition last year, will host the new episodes airing in January.

Jeopardy! producers said, “We will resume production on 11/30 with a series of interim guest hosts from the Jeopardy! family – starting with Ken Jennings. Additional guest hosts to be announced.”

The show’s executive producer, Mike Richards said “Alex believed the importance of Jeopardy! and always said that he wanted the show to go on after him. We will honor his legacy by continuing to produce the game he loved.”

Jennings has already appeared as a guest member of the Jeopardy! team posing occasional questions during the course of a game, hosted by the late Canadian gameshow icon, Alex Trebek.

Trebek, who lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in early November, had been the show’s only host. Jeopardy! is in its 37th year of syndication, and it still airing shows filmed with Trebek as host before his death.
