Here are several FUN things to do on Family Day Weekend in Toronto

TORONTO, February 16, 2023 – In addition to the Canadian International AutoShow taking place (paid event) from Friday until next Sunday, the City of Toronto is encouraging all Toronto residents to get out and enjoy Family Day on Monday, February 20 by visiting select City pools, skating rinks, historic sites and recreation centres. This long weekend is an opportunity to rediscover Toronto and all it has to offer by spending quality time with family and friends.

Family Day Weekend activity highlights include:

Drop-In Activities for Families

A number of recreation centres are offering free drop-in programs for the whole family. Individuals are welcome to enjoy activities such as yoga, table tennis, sports and more. Details and schedules are available on individual recreation centre webpages.

Swimming

Drop-in swimming will be available at many indoor pools on Family Day. City-run leisure swims are free of charge for everyone. More information on City swim programs is available at www.toronto.ca/swim.

Spadina Museum to be renovated thanks to funding from all three governments

Toronto History Museums

Families can join free drop-in activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at all seven Toronto History Museums: Fort York National Historic Site, Gibson House, Mackenzie House, Montgomery’s Inn, Scarborough Museum, Spadina Museum and Todmorden Mills. Entry to all Toronto History Museums is always free, including on Family Day. More information in about long weekend museum programming is available on the City’s website.

Skating at The Bentway

Skating on Family Day Weekend in Toronto

More than 50 outdoor ice rinks and skating trails across the city will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Family Day. There is no charge for public skating at the City’s indoor and outdoor rinks. Skaters are reminded to check the status of the rink before they head out at www.toronto.ca/skate.

Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard

Skiing and snowboarding

Earl Bales Ski and Snowboard Centre will be open for leisure programs (weather dependent). Fees apply for lift tickets. Skiers and snowboarders can check the status of the hill before heading out at www.toronto.ca/ski.

Riverdale Farm

Animal-lovers can visit a working farm in the centre of the city. Riverdale Farm is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and admission is free. More information is available on the Riverdale Farm webpage.

High Park Animal Display

Toronto’s oldest animal display is open every day between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., including on Family Day. This weekend, like all weekends and public holidays, High Park is closed to vehicle traffic. More information is available on the High Park Zoo webpage.

Conservatories and greenhouses

Both Allan Gardens and Centennial Park conservatories will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Family Day. Admission is free. While Allan Gardens is undergoing renovations, washrooms inside the conservatory are closed. Portable washrooms are available outside by the playground. Vaccination options

Individuals who are yet to be vaccinated or are eligible for a COVID-19 “booster” dose can City vaccination clinics this Saturday and Sunday. Immunization clinics at Cloverdale Mall, Mitchell Field Community Centre, 1 Eglinton Square and Thorncliffe Park Community Hub are open to walk-ins on Saturday, February 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Immunization clinics at Metro Hall and Crossroads Plaza are open to walk-ins on Sunday, February 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Immunization clinics are closed on Monday, February 20. Health cards are not required.

Appointments are preferred, though walk-ins will be accommodated based on capacity. Appointments can be made online through the Toronto Public Health booking system at TPHbookings.ca.
