TORONTO, June 5, 2026 — The TTC is advising customers of upcoming subway closures and service adjustments to facilitate critical infrastructure work ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ games. Additional service adjustments will also be in place this weekend to accommodate events across the city.
Sunday – Single day closure between St George and Sheppard West stations
Starting at 12:30 a.m. this Sun., Jun. 7, there will be no subway service on Line 1 Yonge-University between St George and Sheppard West stations for planned track work. The planned closure will allow crews to complete a variety of track work projects including the installation of new rail and track hardware, as well as concrete slab repair for structural integrity to facilitate the removal of reduced speed zones. A frequent shuttle bus service will operate, stopping at each station along the route.
Glencairn and Dupont stations will be closed, along with select station entrances, including the Ranee Ave. entrance at Yorkdale Station, the Heath St. entrance at St Clair West Station and the Kendal Ave. entrance at Spadina Station. All other subway stations will be open for customers to purchase or load a PRESTO card, PRESTO Ticket and connect to surface routes.
Monday – Single track operation between Lawrence West and Wilson stations
On Mon., Jun. 8, there will be limited subway service on the portion of Line 1 Yonge-University between Lawrence West and Wilson stations due to structural maintenance to allow the removal of multiple reduced speed zones in the area.
Trains operating between Lawrence West and Wilson stations will operate on a single track in both directions. As a result, customers can expect delays of up to 25 minutes when travelling through the area.
Supplementary shuttle buses will operate between Lawrence West and Sheppard West stations, and TTC staff will be available onsite to assist customers and direct them to the most appropriate service. Wheel-Trans will be available for any customer requiring assistance.
Customers travelling to and from Union Station from north of Sheppard West Station can take GO Transit service at Downsview Park Station at no extra cost. Customers can also use east and west bus routes in the area to connect with the Yonge side of Line 1 including:
– 84/984 Sheppard West
– 96/996 Wilson
– 52/952 Lawrence West
– Line 5 Eglinton
Regular subway service will resume at 6 a.m. on Tues., Jun. 9.
While the TTC does most subway maintenance after service each night, it continues to require subway closures to complete critical infrastructure and state-of-good-repair work.
Extra service for Luke Combs concert at Rogers Stadium
The TTC is saddling up with extra service for Luke Combs fans heading to Rogers Stadium on Fri., Jun. 5 and Sat., Jun. 6.
To help concertgoers travel quickly and safely, additional service will be running on Line 1 Yonge-University and Line 2 Bloor-Danforth. Customers are encouraged to take Line 1 to Downsview Park, Sheppard West, or Wilson stations, with Downsview Park being the closest to the venue. All three stations are within walking distance, and additional TTC staff will be positioned at each location to assist concertgoers heading to the stadium.
For customers with accessibility needs, a dedicated shuttle service will run between Wilson Station and Rogers Stadium prior to and following each concert.
Extra buses will be deployed on routes 84 Sheppard West and 96 Wilson, and the 101 Downsview Park route will be extended to Sheppard West Station from 12 p.m. to 1 a.m., diverting via Sheppard Ave. and Keele St.
The TTC and Live Nation Canada have partnered for a second year to offer concertgoers free rides home from Rogers Stadium. Fans can show their concert ticket to TTC staff at Downsview Park, Sheppard West and Wilson stations after the show to access their complimentary trip home on the TTC.
As a reminder for customers travelling home after the concerts, subway service on Line 1 Yonge-University will end early at 12:30 a.m. on Fri., Jun. 5 and Sat., Jun. 6 between Sheppard West and St George stations due to planned track work. Shuttle buses will operate.
