Video: Toronto punkers The OBGMs drop new single ahead of October album release
TORONTO, ON., July 6, 2020 — Popular Toronto punk band release new single — Today, energetic Toronto punk band The OBGMs (The oOohh Baby Gimme Mores) who are releasing their latest single “Not Again” out on the Black Box label.
You may be aware of them already, but The OBGMs play hard and fast, with lead singer and guitarist Densil McFarlane snarling and swaggering with a confidence not unlike a preacher controlling their congregation.
From their genre-fusing music, to their lyrical creativity, the black-fronted punk trio’s sound delivers a spicy menu of raucousness to your eardrums. Delicious. On-stage, they control the crowd like a preacher controls a congregation. The sermon’s message is: They are here.
When musing on the track, McFarlane says, “Bad advice, wrong choice, fake lovers and friends. ‘Not Again’ is about the lies I tell myself when I look in the mirror. The second single released this summer continues the exploration of internal struggles and self destruction.”
The OBGMs have shared the stage with artists like Bad Brains, Pusha T, Anti-Flag, Glassjaw, Thee Oh Sees and Saul Williams, and they have received praise from bands like PUP and Green Day (who included them on their Black Lives Matter playlist). The Toronto punk trio is readying the release of their album “The Ends” in late October.
With ten tracks of raucous and relentless punk rock, the album was produced by Grammy and JUNO Award winner Dave Schiffman (PUP, The Bronx, Rage Against The Machine), and “Not Again” sees McFarlane reckoning with self sabotage, yelping and screaming while crunching guitars and pounding drums rip behind him. It’s over in a whirlwind and leaves you breathless.
