Shannen Doherty is fighting stage 4 cancer
Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed star Shannen Doherty, 48, revealed Tuesday on Good Morning America that she has been quietly battling stage 4 cancer, which returned three years after first her breast cancer went into remission.
“I’m petrified,” she told the ABC morning talkshow. “I’m pretty scared. My mom is a ridiculously strong, courageous human being. So is my husband, but I worry about him.”
“I don’t think that I’ve processed it,” she told “Good Morning America.” “It’s a bitter pill to swallow in a lot of ways. I definitely have days where I say, ‘Why me?’”
Doherty did not share any specific timeline or details but said she knew about the diagnosis while shooting the return of 90210, airing on Fox last year.
Doherty also talked about when she received her diagnosis before Luke Perry died last March. “It’s so weird for me to be diagnosed and someone so seemingly healthy to go first,” she said. “It was really shocking. The least I could do to honour him was to do that show.”
Doherty took to Instagram to post a cute Peanuts cartoon and remind all of her followers about the importance of living every day to the fullest.
