Jews Worldwide On High Alert – Toronto high school threatened

TORONTO, Thursday, October 12th – The situation concerning Israel is growing increasingly dire for Jewish communities worldwide with each passing minute. Disturbingly, adherents of Hamas have unleashed ominous threats on social media, hinting at an apocalyptic October 13th for Jews across the globe. They’ve gone so far as to incite their supporters to harm Jews.

Jewish High School in Toronto Threatened

In these tumultuous times, the world finds itself on edge, but the Jewish community faces an even more menacing reality, especially those living in Jewish neighbourhoods, attending synagogues, or sending their children to Jewish schools. The gravity of the situation was palpable in Toronto today when three unknown individuals approached students outside the Jewish school, Chat, and menacingly threatened their lives. Fortunately, the quick-witted teenagers reported the incident to the police, leading to the arrest and questioning of the individuals involved.

Students Stabbed?

Unfortunately the majority of the public found about the incident on social media where someone posted the students had all been stabbed. Eventually this post was taken down and the correct information was published.

Should They Stay or Should They Go?

Online forums are now flooded with concerned parents debating whether it’s safe to send their children to school, attend synagogue services, or even visit local theaters. The dilemma lingers: should we stay at home to safeguard ourselves while terrorists intimidate us, or should we proudly wear our yarmulkes, hold our heads high, and refuse to be cowed into hiding indoors?

Social Media Threats

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has sounded the alarm regarding threats on social media directed at Canada’s Jewish community, urging the public to be on high alert. Now is the time for increased vigilance. We will not tolerate any form of intimidation, harassment, or harmful targeting of communities or individuals in Canada, declared the RCMP in a statement released on Thursday. The national law enforcement agency emphasizes that anyone feeling threatened online or in person should immediately contact their local police.

The RCMP’s warning comes at a time of heightened tensions, following the devastating attacks on Israeli civilians by Hamas over the weekend and escalating violence in the region as Israel strikes the Gaza Strip.

Canada’s Public Safety and Justice Ministers call upon Canadians to remain united

Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc has been in communication with RCMP leadership regarding concerns within the Jewish community. I have every confidence that they are treating these concerns with the utmost importance and will continue to exercise heightened vigilance around places of significance to the Jewish community,” stated LeBlanc in a media release.

In a joint statement, LeBlanc and Canada’s Justice Minister Arif Virani, after meeting with their provincial and territorial counterparts on Thursday, underscored the importance of Canadians feeling safe. They called upon all Canadians to remain united during this challenging period, highlighting the values of respect and tolerance upon which their democracy is built. The ministers affirmed that law enforcement and security agencies are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the safety of all Canadian citizens.

GTA and Vancouver Police bolster patrols

Moreover, police in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and Vancouver have bolstered patrols in specific areas in recent days, with a particular focus on Jewish places of worship. A news release from Toronto police issued on Wednesday acknowledged “global online threats” regarding “events that may occur on Friday.” A former Hamas leader has called for global protests on Friday, as reported by Reuters. The situation remains highly fluid and fraught with uncertainty, demanding vigilance and unity in the face of adversity.
