When it comes to plant-based products Toronto’s totally Vegan grocery store is all GOOD

Opinion, Vegan Life Toronto

So, I only just discovered a new store in Toronto that’s entirely VEGAN?! But to my surprise it has actually been serving the community for just over three years. I’m shocked, disappointed (in myself) and excited to finally discover it at the same time.

Good Rebel – Vegan Provisions is located at 1591 Dundas St W, Toronto

I made my first trek to Good Rebel a couple of weeks ago, from the downtown core to its west Toronto location at Dundas and Dufferin. The long bus ride was ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. The moment I walked into the store and saw the Holiday display, I knew my time had not been wasted. The first thing I spotted was the moo-free advent calendar, one of the only vegan advent calendars I’ve ever seen in-store (bulk barn also sells it for my Canadian friends). I also grabbed some of the Dandies peppermint mini marshmallows, with the hopes of adding them to hot chocolate during these chilly months.

Good Rebel have the best selection of vegan substitutes I’ve seen in Canada, thus far. They carry Chao Mac n Cheese, Gardein, Beyond Meat, Field Roast, Tofurkey, Violife, and Daiya, to name a few. I’m not usually big on vegan cheese, but their wide range of options made me greedily yearn to try them all. They have some terrific local brands as well, like Miyokos Creamery and Culcherd

I won’t go into detail about every single product, BUT one thing I must say is if nothing else, TRY THEIR CROISSANTS!!! I have always been a croissant-lover, and after many failed attempts at making them myself, I had given up on maintaining that after becoming vegan. BUT NO MORE! They have both plain and chocolate croissants, and of course I got one of each (check my Instagram account to hear me rave about croissants even more if that’s piques your interest).

All in all, the 30-minute bus trip was worth it and I will most DEFINITELY be back (maybe a little too soon).
